“Nzala”, video launch and discussion Brandeis University Glynn Amphitheater (G4), Waltham, Massachusetts
16 January 2020
This event will showcase our efforts and commitment to Peace, Conflict Resolution and Coexistence by highlighting the consequences of war and conflicts through a conversation around the video “Nzala” that we produced with the contribution of the Brandeis community. “Nzala” is the winning video of the “Maurice J. and Fay B. Karpf & Ari Hahn Peace Endowment Award 2019”. “Nzala” literally means “Hunger” in Lingala, one of the four national languages of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The song was written by Prince Kwamiso with a purpose to raise awareness on the consequences of war and violence on the well-being of humanity, pinpointing more particularly the issue of poverty as a result of violence around the world. Not only is poverty a consequence of war and violence, poverty can also be a cause of war and violence.
